We have this wonderful forum which is why we don't need or want Facebook.

I would guess (beyond the obvious putting a face to a name implications), Facebook is the wrong vehicle for the overall goal of this site. This site is about learning. Facebook is not designed to help people learn. It's designed to maximize consumption.

The search feature on HD is certainly less than desirable, but try searching for information on Facebook from eight years ago. You can't do it. Nor does Facebook really want you to. The wonderful people of HD have made it possible to lead neubs by the nose so they can find the basic answers to basic problems. There is no straightforward way to do that on Facebook.

I have a blast on Facebook. I keep in touch with all my old friends and we joke around like the old days. We get vile enough to get kicked off for a month sometimes.
Then we come back and have even more fun.
Trouble is, I use my real name there and not about to talk about distilling.

Sorry guys, didn't realize that the question would strike such a nerve. I'm not a huge fan of social media either, but it does serve a decent purpose sometimes. Was just figuring a "private" group might be cool, but it's no big deal. This is a good forum and I am happy to be part of it. Anxious to learn some stuff and help out if I can. Forget I said anything about facebook. And a FUCK OFF to the guy talking shit about my old lady......lol!!!!!

Funny. HDNB wasn’t talking about you (or yours). He was suggesting that Facebook is the “gateway drug” to Tinder. And if you don’t recognize that name..Google it.

Me...I despise Facebook...because it wastes time. It’s an addicting activity which will overrule your other life efforts. I’ve known some to spend hours per day searching, reading, commenting on theirs and “friends” pages. Social media has a tendancy to become a “social addiction”. So, it definitely doesn’t need proliferation here.

We (here on HD) are a network of professional hobbiests (and some professional professionals) engaged in an educational oversight of an industry propelling itself to the threshhold of greatness.

I don't know if the "younger" generation is on Facebook or if they have deserted it for other platforms.

I am a HUGE Alabama basketball fan.
We have one of a very few "One & Done" s on our team this year Collin Sexton.
(For you furreners, basketball players can no longer go immediately from High School to the NBA.
Got to sit and wait, go to Europe for a year, or sign with a college with everyone knowing its a one season deal.

During most games, broadcasters always mention that Sexton has NO social media accounts and no plans to get one.
"Social Media is just a total waste of time."
I'm pretty sure that is going to add a zero to the end of his checks in the pro's

I joined a fb distilling page a while ago, was interesting at first but then got to much. Omg the amount of stupid shit posted drove me crazy, so I left. Just imagine, the amount of questions asked here, then put that into a fb discussion, then you'll understand why.
