Does anyone use labels?

Post by Bigbob »

When I made my second run I used bottles to give to friends . My wife made up some labels for me and I was wondering if any body else does this.( when I figure out how to post pictures I show them!)

I think quite a few do. Check out some of Jimbos labels. I think he is the label king around here. There is a thread somewhere with a few of his in it.

Yeah, Jimbo's got some cool ones. But he lives on an island in the Atlantic, and his labels celebrate a mountain in Alaska. Go figure.

I used to use these in assorted colors, but I kind of burned out on it. Made them with MS Publisher. I just like faries.

Awesome label scow69!

Labels are essential for anything that sits around for more than a week. Secret codes if you have no licence. Friends and relatives love secret codes.

PM me if you want me to make a label for ya, it only takes a second. I signed up at beerlabelizer.com, as referenced by Jimbo...

Thanks Jimbo!

The font kinda sucks but you can use a photo editing program to add different fonts.

You guys have got too much time on your hands.

Jimbo, this is the first I've seen Bonfire. It might be my new favorite. My daughter works at Denali Nat'l Park. I never see her hanging out with the girls on your labels. Where do you keep 'em hid?"

I got so sick of trying to remove labels off bottles. So I could use them. I started using ball canning labels. They are made to come right off in water. Nothing fancy. But much easier to get off.

Anybody notice there is a pattern, here? Like the most popular thing to put on a label is a female, usually scantilly clad? Imagine that.

I print them on standard paper (as opposed to a sticker/label), then use that clear book cover stuff. Just cut out the paper label, stick face down onto sticky side of clear cover, then cut around so there's an overlap over the paper...then stick on the bottle and that overlap around the edges holds it all on. Press the air bubbles out like window tint and it's invisible, and comes off easy too

Ok...I wanna play, too!

So, I too, signed up for the beer labeler site a while ago that Jimbo has turned on to us all. You can't buy more simplicity for $5.

This is my UJSSM label, for the late generations that I had alot of esters in. Not bad, after it mellows, but I figured wouldn't be my best. So I named it Bottom Barrel.

Image

So, my next shout out goes too Mr. P. I made some of his FirePiss, but the wife refused to drink it until I called it something else. No disrespect intend, PP, hope you don't mind i made it my own. i did use whiskey, and when I nuked aged it with cinnamon, i also put some oak in it. Anyways, here's this one.

Image

And now for my final. So, my latest adventure was Jimbo's All Grain wheated Bourbon, but circumstances made me change it up on the first go. I still have to update that thread, but I used smoked wheat. it went pretty well, and would have been an interesting controlled experiment, except I unknowingly scorched the LAST quart of my 3 stripping runs. Uggh. more on that later. But I refused to just throw out my first all grain, and I made ridiculous cuts, and ended up with about 32 ounces out of 12 gallons of wash. It was all that could be saved. But it was quite interesting, with a smoke back and slight burnt finish. Had to have a label for all the work. And so...

Just an FYI... Make sure you pay for beer labeliser on your main computer. I signed up for it on my work computer. Now, its the only one I can use it on. I tried contacting beer labeliser on Facebook, to see if their is a way to correct this. Never heard back. Now, if I want to do it at home, I'll have to spend another five.

KY, there's a link for paid owners to activate on any of their PC's. Check your PM.

I didnt realize I influenced so many on here to spend the extortionate 5 bucks and get this program LOL. Maybe I can leverage that with Andy who wrote beerlabelizer to add more fonts. He ignored my last request for fonts haha.

Cheers,

Jim

Jimbo, just link him this thread. He will get the picture. Its a great program and deserves further development.

Half of the labels me and the misses whipped up, I can't post here. Naughty stuff indeed... I think the TBB would reject any one of our labels for legal liquor. Its sort of ironic.
