toasting oak

last nite when I was cooking off a batch I made up some oak sticks for aging and looked over at my still and it hit me I use a keg on a turkey fryer and the grate my keg sits on overhangs my burner so why not lay the sticks on the grate and toast while I cook It worked great and the side benefit was I had a small leak that I was not able to stop with flour paste so I grabbed up some of the oak saw dust and put it around the wet paste and leak was gone

Not a bad idea sounds like you killed tow birds or in the case of your leak three birds with one stone.
