You must be talking about Barney Barnwell's gathering in New Prospect. Last weekend in May.

The Spring gathering is mostly the hippie/new age type with alternative bluegrass and such.

The Fall gathering the first weekend in October is mostly adults with some great old time bluegrass. Folks come from all over the U.S. and some from Europe. See the same folks every year. I usually camp all weekend and wear the old Martin out.

Good food, drink and friends. Very laid back. Ain't missed one in years.

Barney's got throat cancer. The same kind his dad died from about 5 years ago.

Dooley's all tore up about it because he knew his dad real well and saw him suffer and such.

Y'all that do such please pray for him.

The reunion is coming up this weekend and I plan to go if they are having it. Ain't missed one in years.

Barney lives just up the road from me and is a good guy and is a tremendous musician and started the CSA..Conservation of Southern Artist.

The annual fall moonershiner reunion is the biggest hell raising event in the parts.

I talked with Debbie yesterday, (Barney's wife). She said that Barney was out of the hospital but still having to go to Greenville each day for treatment of an infection of the blood. The festival is still on and she could use everyone's support. So go! I will be there, be nice if we could identify other forum members. Hat? Arm band? Any suggestions?

I ain't going to be able to stay all weekend like I usually do but I might be able to make Sat afternoon.

That band Tater is going to be there and them boys are something else.

South 85 also, pretty girls that can sing good.


I hope Barney can make it. I believe it will be worse for him if he can't. Not necessarily to perform with his band but just to see all the support he has.

I''m taking off work today to go down. Will just be able to be there tonight then have to drive back.No one to look after the farm animals while my wife and I are away. I hope Barney can be there also as well as beat this thing altogether. Did you notice that his u tube listing of how to make moonshine has gotten over 125,000 hits in a year? We ain't alone.
