Soo i bought this new Fisherbrand Hydrometer off Ebay for $20 is that a good deal or???i see its regularly $300+

As I understand it. A hydrometer is either correct, or not. If it is correct, it doesn't matter how much it cost. The cheap hydrometers will naturally have more variance in production that the expensive ones that are well calibrated. But as soon as the glass has cooled and the meter is packed it is only a matter of how close the measure is to reality.

I have three different hydrometers bought for about 10USD each. They all show the exact same value when I measure, so I have decided to trust them.

When I Googled Fisherbrand, I most priced around $30 USD, including shipping. $300 is rediculous even for a professional brewer.

But, on Ebay I see a wide range of specific gravity measurement ranges. Did you order the correct range (SG 1.000-1.120)?

Yes its an 0-200% alcohol hydrometer.... and how do it turn the signature off im new to this

I think you mean 0-200 proof*. A % implies abv, which goes from 0-100%. Well, in theory. Most abv ones will go to 97 or so.

Just divide your proof number by 2, and that will give you your %.

Cheers. It's fine. Close enough for government work!

testing it with normal water at the correct temperature should give you an idea if it's off or not. I've just done it with my two hydrometers and I found out that one was off by around 4 degrees.
