Reading Hydrometer

My water temp is 85F degrees on my hydrometer so my deduction is -5 soo with that being said do i start the subtraction soon as its starts running? Say i wanna make my first cut at 78% i would need to cut it at 83 on the Alcohol hydrometer correct???

It's as good a place to make a cut...if you use %ABV to make your cuts. I don't EVER do it that way. You....have at it.
