Little or nothing to do with distillation.

Try some turkey next time. In my opinion it adds great texture to the spirit. Slightly fatty, with just a hint of turkey.

In NZ, we are coming into the season when a lot of the traditional fruits are ripe. My bottle is getting low, so I'm on the lookout for opportunistic ingredients for my next batch. I don't like my chances of running over a turkey around here :D

I haven't run with roadkill in the still ... yet ... but I have been privileged to find fresh roadkill endangered species to cook for dinner more than once :D

I often see turkeys on my travels, but they are always on private property even though they are wild. There is a better chance that my next pechuga will be bunny. I have to convince our daughter that she would enjoy Grappa di Coniglio more than she likes watching the cute little bunnies from her rocking chair on the veranda.

Didn't see this on TV but in an e-mail today, and I'm looking for a place to drop this educational video without starting another thread. After seeing this video I'll stick to my preferred beverages (coffee, fruit juices and home made Hand Sanitizer).

Those eggs in a skillet and hammer handle are messed up.

Not buying anything in that video. The hammer handle flexed when he hit those cans.

Still don't like energy drinks though.

AFAIK, unfortunately/fortunately, that show isn't available to me. A distiller who shall not be named showed me the Absinthe episode and that was a load of unadulterated BS.

I ran some of last year's white brandy through a still charge of a variety fresh, ripe, fruits, some herbs and a chicken breast about three weeks ago. Yummy.

Thanks for starting this thread,Goose eye. Thanks to you, I've made several runs with chicken in the boiler and they have all made fantastic products to be drank as shots.

My preferred shot glass for these is a glass candle holder. It's about a third of the volume of a shot glass and I quite like that.

Chris, you should really try adding botanicals as well. Don't know the English words but I found these red berries went really well with turkey breast. Next time I'll throw in some rosemary or something as well.

Bit like a gin run with turkey breast instead of juniper.

Edit, looked it up, apparently it's redcurrant in English.

The only reason I haven't used red currents is because my bush died :esad:

I haven't used rosemary because I don't think I'd like it in this. I do use it in Gin Mare.

My four year old Grappa & chicken breast is very nice.

The run I did today is also very nice, but has a bite that the four year old doesn't have, (no surprises there.)

I am fairly certain that after winning the competition, Jerrod joined our group.

I did a run yesterday, took a hip flask of it to the pub and got the same reaction.

Many of the ingredients were different because it was later in the season than usual. One I was given I had never heard of before, (Chinese Quince).

Shame some people open their mouth without thinking or doing research. Object to a breast hanging in a vapor path but have no problem with liquor pouring out over an animal's dick...

There is nothing edible in the still after my runs. The nice stuff is in the collection jug, the nasties are in the still.

Maybe you could just throw half a dozen chicken stock cubes into the boiler.

Don't know if that would give an approximate result. Saved drippings from a chicken roast might work better

Sonic boom

Two days ago at dawn, I made a pot of coffee and walked outside for a minute to let it peculate. Then I heard a deep rumble in the sky. A sound that was somehow familiar, but rare too. It took a moment to realize that it was actually the rumbling sound of afterburners at high altitude (but the jets were still subsonic). A sound that was quite common back in the 60's and 70's.

I live about 2,000 miles from Washington DC. This happened about the same time that easterners were freaking out after hearing their first sonic booms, and not realizing what they were. The security level at Washington DC elevated from green to yellow and people at the Pentagon were ready to dive under any nearby desk.

Six fighter jets (at least admitted to in the DC area) were scrambled to defend Washington airspace. The uncontrolled private jet with 4 unconscious people, finally crashed in Virginia.

I am not sure if this particular Australian is right-bright. And then after 3 months he still hadn't eaten the dog.

Were the “endangered species” roadkill before or after you arrived on the scene? :ewink:

Before. That doesn't mean its legal to eat them, but it seems wasteful not to.
