Electric Element Cleaning

I try to clear my mast before running, but after several stripping runs my 5500/240 element is gunked up. I've been fairly successful taking it to the sink and carefully scrubbing the element with a brush to get it pretty clean. Anybody have any suggestions? Do any of your guys soak the element in ant type of solution to loosen the gunk up before cleaning?
Thanks,
BG

Hmm, if it's gunking up you must have quite a bit of thick particulate that is being scorched or baked on.
What I've done in the past is pull the element and spray it generously with oven cleaner. Let it work overnight, then spray it again. That makes the final cleaning much easier with a wire brush.

A hot soaking in caustic cleaner at a double dose. I use b-Brite, but pro brew wash should work equally well. Use it at double the dose rate and hot water. It should strip it right off.
