The honey man gets beet sugar for his bees (liqued) will this work same as cane sugar?
It sure is a lot cheaper like .17 cents a pound.
Comments anyone
Thanks

Yep, should work the same. Might want to invert it, though, so the yeast can process it a bit easier.

Sugar is sugar from what Ive read there like 99.5 percent the same cane and beet sugar. Some say that .5 percent makes a differences in taste.Ive used both but all ways with something else in wash so haven't noticed a differences in taste .Maybe one of the reflux sugar wash makers has some thoughts.Haven't noticed any difference in out put either.

I guess this is as good a place as any to ask this question. Am I wrong in thinking that the type of sugar in anything but a sugar wash does not matter as far as flavor of the spirit? After all we just want the byproduct from the yeast eating the glucose in the sugar right? What we are really looking for is a source of that glucose to feed the yeast. I could see a sugar wash imparting a different flavor because there's nothing else in the wash really like a grain to offset or mask the flavors. Just thought I'd ask.

The only sugar that I have used that had a distinct flavor change was HFCS55, which I used to get to feed my bees. I haven't used it in two years because the only hive that did not get fed this stuff survived and is starting to multiply this year.
Anyway, the HFCS55 when distilled twice had slight but distinct tequila flavor. It was like a tequila flavored vodka. I can't tell the difference between beet and cane.

As long as were on beets never use "beet molasses" that is some funky stuff ( some times sold as animal feed)
