For those of you with pellet grills or smokers.... here's what I did.... using well or distilled water I made ice cubes.... I put them on a tray and loaded into the smoker/grill and waited for them to melt. Apparently the smoke sticks to ice better than just water. The resulting smoky water I used to cut my distillate. I am tasting some that I put aside after oaking 9 months ago and it is very tasty... How do I know? Well... it tastes like... more! Hahaha

one of the fancy restaurants in town makes smoked ice cubes with flavours to accent the cocktail
smoked ice with orange bitters and honey, drowned with rye or bourbon. i thought it was pretty outstanding. the cocktail changes dramatically as the ice melts. they make great big balls of ice for this, about 2" across.
