I don't understand why your original post/recipe was locked - did anyone read the post, or did they just read 'mamajuana' and think 'marijuana' and lock it? There is no mention or hint of marijuana or pot or any drugs in the recipe, and this drink sounds interesting. I'd like to know/hear more about it's taste, Duke...

Here's what he said/posted:
Recipe for 1 litre
500ml rum preferably dark but white will work
250-300ml of maple syrup preferably dark depends on how sweet you want it
250ml red wine.decent quality is better
Fill 3- 500ml mason jars with jd smoking chips
Pour evenly between the 3 jars
Let rest 3-4 days then enjoy
...
Anyhow a ratio of 50% rum 25% wine 25% syrup(or honey) is there recipe
No drugs! Kinda rough to post-lock it because you glanced at the title and couldn't help your authoritah... I mean, really, how long does a Google search take, or to just read the whole post you're about to lock?
From WIKI https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mama_Juana :
Mama Juana (or Mamajuana) is a drink from the Dominican Republic that is concocted by allowing rum, red wine, and honey to soak in a bottle with tree bark and herbs. The taste is similar to port wine and the color is a deep red.
ALSO: "Mama Juana is considered one of the first distilled spirits in the Americas, even before rum."

Anyhow... Duke, what kind of red wine? Like a sweeter red, or a merlot, cabernet??

From WIKI, other ingredients/herbs and tree bark include:
The solid ingredients (local leaves, barks, sticks and roots) vary from region to region but usually include some of the following:

Anamú (Petiveria alliacea) (pigeonberry)
Anis Estrellado (star anise, Illicium verum)
Bohuco Pega Palo (Cissus verticillata) (grape family)
Albahaca (basil, Ocimum basilicum)
Canelilla (Cinnamodendron ekmanii) (evergreen family)
Bojuco Caro (Princess Vine)
Marabeli (Securidaca virgata) (flowering plant)
Clavo Dulce (Whole Clove)
Maguey (Agave spp.) leaves
Timacle (Chiococca alba) (flowering plant; milkberry, snowberry)
In addition to the above standard recipe, it is common for individuals to add other ingredients such as cinnamon, raisins, strawberry, molasses, and lemon or lime juice.
I'm TOTALLY gonna make some of this with cinnamon sticks, dark raisins, maple, honey, and molasses, some lime juice, candied ginger, vanilla bean, basil, star anise, allspice, cloves...

Dresden, you are speaking uninformed.

Anytime you post in 'Shared Recipes, it is a locked forum. You post your recipe, it gets approved and locked. Have you looked at the rest of the threads in that forum, or just taking 10% of the information and finding yourself an expert?

Ah, no I didn't know that SCD, I'm sorry. I did assume, I mean kinda logically, that it was locked because it seemed to infer 'marijuana' due to similarity. My bad.
I'll have to pick up a uniform ( :P )

I go to the DR once a month or so, and always grab a bottle of Mamajuana for friends. It appears you’re missing THE ingredient - mamajuana bark! That’s like making tonic water without chinchona bark (from which quinine is extracted)... Plus, the mamajuana bark is supposed to make one, uh,... “strong like bull!” Maybe make the liquor and have it sit on some bark for a month or so? Apparently the bark is reusable several evolutions... regardless, it’s called mamajuana for a reason... the bark!
