Happy Aniversary 2 Me

Post by punkin »

Hit 100 last night

My hundredth run was a nice little all grain corn and barley single run too.

Only got a little out of it, but may bottle it into a couplea small flasks and label it as 'Punkin's Century Bourbon' 8) 8)

Funny thing was, a bloke from work i'd given a bottle of UJSM to last week, came up yesterday morning and said..

"I had a couple more drinks outa that bottle yesterday, and i gotta tell you, i do believe that's the nicest bourbon i've ever drank"

Well, you can take that how you please, maybe he's not mush of a judge and maybe he's never tried too many fine burbouns, but it's nice to hear these things anyway.

We tried my ujsm against a bottle of single barrell Blantons on friday night, although it wasn't as well matured it stood it's own ok. Some even preferred the ujsm
Both bottles got drank anyway, and i can't say one bottle was finnished before the other one. :P

Congrats.

I never kept track of how many I've run. I know it's less then 100.
I started out with nothing, and I still have most of it left.

well played, you need to try your century vs. 1st run to get a real perspective. I am saving my first just for that occasion  8)

Congrats
Thanks all

Perhaps i'l actually do that mate.
I've still got a sample of everything (different brews) i've ever run in a cupboard, so there is still a litre or so of my first ever ujsm.

Run #99 was my sorta first allgrain corn with enzymes. my best mate has been a real supporter (bourbon fan and wild turkey devotee) and made me a bet to say i'd talke 8 years to top Austin Nicholls.

I told him i could do it in two

When the first allgrain came off during the week, i said
'I'm putting Austin Nichols on twelve months notice from today'.

It's been labelled as such and put away, so we'll see with a taste off of my gear versus the Rare Breed....But thanks MG, i'll make sure there's some first run there too 8)

Sadly I only have 2L left and it will be in there for a while as I make the rest up to 100. How long did it take you to make it to your #100? A month? A year? 5 years?

Congrats Punkin!I havent kept count at all,but know Ive done many, many runs.I have a bottle or two of just about everything Ive made, and boy does it get better with age.My only problem is Im running out of places to put it because I have over 400 bottles of wine down there.Thats not counting the booze.I dont think I will make any wine this year.It will be brandy.I have some tips for you on the all grain mashing, but it will take alot of grain.PM me if your interested.

Punkin, you're a legend.
I hope to start the grain mashing very shortly.
I started doing just the scotch flavoured vodka to sort out the fermenting and distilling methods and now that I'm home again, I plan on starting with some DWWG then on to some grains, through the pot still.
Congrats and Cheers.

Yeah, Tracker the DWWG is a beaut and deserves it place among the top three or four for us beginers.
I'm not a scotch fan at all, but the scotch fans loved it.
