I haven't tried it, but the spec for the 55 gallon version is 5750watts; which puts roughly on par with a standard 5500watt ULD ripple element. Price wise is a different story, $200 vs $40

Unless you really need that specific element to fit your boiler, just buy a regular element.

Doesn't look practical for most boilers. It would require an large opening and as said previously, I don't see a benefit.

I agree - it's probably better to have a 1.5-2" triclamp fitting with a removable element. Though if you don't have the ability to weld in a triclamp ferrule then this seems more interesting. I can make a 5/8" hole pretty easy. Making a 2" hole then welding in a ferrule is much more difficult. I believe it would cost most people more than the $160 difference to get that done.

Note - the BoilCoil™ is suitable for heating strike water in your mash tun but is NOT suitable for step mashing. The grain impedes convective flow of the wort and scorching will result. However, our RIMS-Rocket™ is a great choice for step mashing since the grain is never in direct contact with the heating coil.

So for us - clear wort only. No grain in.

My plan was to use it for stillin not beer my mash barrel elements can cook grain without scorching but take along time in my still build I want to be able to get to temperature faster. And that was also the great part of it way easier to just drill two holes and be done.
