Vintage Firestone Keg Pot Still Project

I got my hands on a cool vessel for a pot still. I want to remove the copper spout, it has a 2' spanner/spline nut thing that I need to buy a tool to remove, It cracked during my attempts to remove it with a punch and hammer.

Do you think I should fab a collar, then a cap and arm? Or just a big cap and arm?

Is the lip going to be a problem, should I drill more holes, or but the lip out?

I made a video showing this new to me keg, i think its going to be a cool still. I plan to put an electric element in the botom, and to use the center bung as maybe a thermometer port.
