A Deep Appreciation for HD Forum
I joined this site just over 3-years ago, and the knowledge I have learned is priceless.
I came to this site like most have to share and to learn. It didn’t take long to find out that I had nothing to share other than my lack of experience.
This post isn’t to share the knowledge I have learned over 3 years.
It’s to say thank you to all of you for the tremendous knowledge that you all share willingly.
I deeply appreciate it.
Thank you!!!

That couldn't have been written more accurately or eloquently. I've been here less than a year and my knowledge has come on in leaps and bounds and continues to do so. I will raise a glass this evening to this post and to the contributors it celebrates.

I have been here for three months now and I do agree that my knowledge of this wonderful world of distilling, has increased tremendously thanks to this forum and the wonderful community that posts on it.
A good thing that this website exists, because this is such a valuable place with such wealth of information, I’m so very grateful that I have the privilege to be part of this great community.
Thanks to all that have helped me by sharing their awesome knowledge with me and I also thank all those who will in the future.

.
My first ever distillation was sept '17, and I've since been blessed to move into a succession of all-grain mashes, applying the knowledge I gained here. Recently, when tasting my oldest-aged bourbon, I was floored with how complex, rich, and balanced this spirit had become, and realized how much I love doing this. Sure, a lot of time and commitment goes into this hobby, but with the support, knowledge and advice shared here, the gratification has been off the charts.
Thank you, everyone at HD.

Re: A Deep Appreciation for HD Forum
If it were not for HD forum , I may well have still been making Neutral ( or what I thoight the muck was that I was single distilling in barely more than a Pot still from a Turbo wash and carbon filtering ) and adding Cordial thinking it was how spirits were made
I remember my first “ Oh wait .... you mean you can make real Rum from Molasses moment “
Then the realisation that the plastic hose on my still spout was going opaque for a reason . Realising what a dumb shit I had been when I tried double distilling my 70% avb turbo wash without diluting it to a safer avb ..especially on the kitchen gas stove .
HD form does its best to educate and keep members safe .
Thanks to all that contribute past , present and future .
May our standards always get better .
Cheers
And thanks to Uncle Jesse ...... if it wasn’t for him this place wouldn’t exist .

Sure. Nearly everything that has been meaningful information to me I learned here.
Also in retrospect, this place taught me how to think a bit more and verbally illustrate my thoughts with words better than I would have otherwise been able to do on a different social media platform.
No doubt, this is the center of the hobby distilling universe.

I have been here nearly 7 years now and continue to learn from the good folks here. Surely do miss the original posters that were here when I started. Hope they are all well and doing fine. Spent last night going over the Liar's Bench stories from years ago. What a fun group that was.

Re: A Deep Appreciation for HD Forum
I'm brand new here as a member however I've been reading this site for a long while. Through the information available I made the decision to learn beer making with grains and following that I would be able to make small grain mash batches for distilling. I wanted to make all my mistakes with the beer making and then be able to make good grain mash for the still. This hasn't exactly happened yet, but I'm getting there. This site is important. There have been more myths exposed to me than I can count. The emphasis on materials and safety is very commendable. I've also learned to slow down, remember it is a hobby, and have some fun, even if things don't work out. I also think there is value here hence I started my membership with a small donation. Thank you for all the help.

I've been here a while and I still learn new things all the time. I appreciate everyone involved. And I do what I can to give back - at least that's my theory.
