Does raw sugar in your mash produce a higher quality finished product compared to cane sugar? Does one produce a higher volume of alcohol than the other?

Depends on what you're making.

Sugar that comes from Sugarcane plant.
Other popular sugar around the world for example might come from beets.

Question likely was asking the difference between raw cane vs pure cane sugar being used.

That was exactly my question. I am currently just experimenting with corn whiskey.

If by "raw" you are referring to a turbinado like sugar (Natural brown sugar) it will likely have 44 ppg.
Refined sugar (Pure Cane or Beet) will have 46 ppg.
Corn sugar (dextrose) will have 42 ppg.

PPG stands for gravity points per pound per gallon (ppg)
https://beerandbrewing.com/brewing-with-sugar/ will help with understanding this.

Any of the common "sugars" you could use are going to be similar in alcohol produced so make your decision based on cost, taste and availability. Simple as that.

Generally speaking pure cane is what most people are going to use for corn type hooch sugar washes (in the US) while guys making RUM will explore the uses of many different brown sugars as well as use pure cane if available. Local availability/cost plays a huge role in what to use for most people.

Is that helpful?

Lots of discussion here: viewtopic.php?f=40&t=16580#p6847416

More options than just white or raw sugar. Have a read.
