looking for recipes and info

hey guys, i'm in the process of writing a book on spirit flavouring and liqueur making at home. i plan to cover all areas from commercial essences, natural essences, fruits, herbs and spices, and include a comprehensive list of recipes and techniques on the subject. i hope to make this work as big as possible and i will turn it into an ebook format so hopefully i can gather hundreds of pages of information.

i guess i could just copy the recipes off some websites and be done with it but i am determined to gather my information properly and legally. the guys who put the time and effort into their sites deserve better than that.

if anybody has any of their own recipes that they would like me to include in the book please post them here or you can e-mail me at stevo_boxer@yahoo.co.uk
i am especially looking for unusual and uncommon recipes that aren't commonly known.
if anyone has any information on the processes involved in flavouring liqueurs/spirits i would appreciate it.

i will gladly e-mail a copy of the book (when it is completed), to anybody who e-mails me their ideas/recipes. the book is not for profit and will not be put up for sale. i don't mind if it's freely distributed and the more people get to read it the better. this is more of a project to help me gain more knowledge of a hobby i really enjoy.

thank's very much guys

I have this book, and it is pretty good. Has a lot of recipes. If you buy it from Amazon, then use the link from the parent site (under Resources / Books). If you use that link, Tony gets a small kickback for the sale. http://homedistiller.org/resources/books" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

"Homemade Liqueurs" by Dona and Mel Meilach (out of print, but easy to find) ISBN 0-8092-7137-0 Pub 1979, 222pg, US$5 (+ postage ?)

thanks for that husker, i'll look that up. i was wondering if i can legally use the recipes from other peoples works or would that be breaching copyright laws. i'm erring on the side of caution until i find out for sure. i'd really like people to send their own recipes for me to include in the book as this is probably the safest way. thanks guys.

It is a breach of copyright (which lasts for 75 years, I think), without getting the authors written permission to republish. However, the writing style of this book is pretty hippy/dippy, and I bet if you asked, you would get permission (so long as you did NOT simply copy their book). NOTE the book is out of print, so I doubt that they are making much off of it any more.

There are "fair use" laws, (such as you can legally photocopy a few pages from a book for your OWN personal use), but if you use this as another publishable work, then it is not legal. You can put small snippets into a research work, by giving proper credit, but I still think you would need written permission if you were to use a large part of someone else's work, even in research.

However, you use a recipe here and there from web sites, from books, etc, AND you give credit to each / all in your edoc, AND if you contact all sources that are LISTED as being legally copywritten (such as books), prior to publishing, then you should stay out of trouble, while providing a nice source of recipes, all in one place.

Depending upon WHAT type of recipes you are looking for (mixed drinks, liquors, spirits), there are many sites which have lots of them. The most recipes are for mixed drinks. There are also quite a few recipes for liquors (but not as many as for mixed drinks). For spirits, the recipe sections of the forums right here, have many very good recipes.

I'm not sure if you've stumbled across here. But it's a pretty extensive list of recipes.
