I'm a newbie, been lurking for a few weeks, and reading a lot.
Not done anything yet, as want to be sure I'm doing it right.
Lots of good information on here and lots to read up on.
Maybe one day I will get round to actually producing something.
Currently only gone as far as beer brewing. I suppose that's a start.

Re: Hi from the UK
Beer brewing is a fine prerequisite to distilling as it teaches the strict fermentation processes necessary in both arts.
Bad fermentation methods increase the probability of rotten beer and unimpressive liquor. So, understand your brewing
ferments, and pay attention to what influence and chemistry the grains, and yeasts, and all are providing.
Side notes: you get a break from dealing with hops in distillation (--as much as I like the little buggers). And we in distillation
LAUGH in the face of sanitizing, leading to my suspicion that some of these guys here are downright filthy...![Thinking ](./images/smilies/icon_think.gif)
Move at your own pace.
You'll get there.

Good on you to start fermenting. A good ferment is where it all starts. No distillation can fix a bad ferment.
I read here that the still isn't a writer, it's a translator.
Welcome, I hope you advance to distilling soon (it's much more forgiving sanitation wise
