Packing media- Fire glass

I’ve been doing a lot of research. I have about 10 runs under my belt so far so very new. I just read the 400+ thread on marbles as packing media and someone else brought up fire glass but no one touched on it. Has anyone used 1/4” fire glass as packing media. I’m running a 2” column and for 4feet of packing it’ll only be 25$ or so and I would think that it would have more surface area than marbles but still maintain the stability that marbles have.
