Ok fellers.
I want to get electric
But what i am looking for is a simple,
"dial up" more power
"dial down" less power
Would this be ok for my use

I run strictly by touch.no therometers etc.
Been stilling for 4-5years but would like the convenience of electric
Any input is appreciated

How big of a pot and how large of a element are you planning?

Got a 16 gallon keg
Was planning on 5500 watt output
Got a 16 gallon thumper also
But don't use it much
Got a bunch of 7 gallon kegs
As far as the element
As big as possible

I am a novoice/new to distillation but unlikely by profession)) i am engineer so in my opinion this thing will surly work to step down the heating power. But what i recommend, you install two heaters of 3000watt heater rather then a big single 5600watt. This way in the initial rum switch on both heaters and after some time switch off one and control the boiler with voltage regulator mounted on one 3000 watt heater. this way you have much flexibility and control over heating. I hope it make sense.

What i want is manual control but in electric

In the distilling community we refer to what you seek as power controllers. You can buy parts and build your own, you can buy a kit and build your own and you can even buy off the shelf power controllers. Check the capabilities of your wiring at home before deciding on size and number of elements.

I the system i told, you will going to have manual control with electric. like: two heater 3000watt one is hooked with variable voltage controller(the one you find on amazon) and other is with simple on off switch. During the initial startup of boiler when we need much heat out put at that time you switch on both heater at full then after some time switch off one heater by on/off switch and other which is hooked with variable voltage controller with that you can control the heating manual by knob provided on it in front.

I think point need to taken care is:

1) chose the right voltage regulator it must be well equal or little bit above the rating of your heater(3000watt)
2)check your household circuit rating. it mush capable of handling 6000 watt load.
3) wire sizing.
4) earthing

This controller kit is the best value I've ever come across. Good quality and I've built multiple controllers using these parts. I used my own enclosures and added some bells & whistles like a fan, switches, 110V outlet with switch and stuff like that.

Agreed,but in canadian dolllars,i can source it cheaper up here
