take off size

I am working up a CCVM still design using keg (w/~5000w element) and 3" SS spools for the column. I plan to use it packed for neutral and unpacked as a pot still mostly for whiskey. One goal is to stick to off the shelf parts so unassembled it's a pile of parts. To that end I plan to build a dimroth using CSST for the PC. Reading about different designs the takeoffs very from a 3", 2", or even 1.5" off of a tee . What are the issues? It seems cost is one. When running as a pot still I would expect the larger diameter to run faster if the PC can keep up. In reflux config I'm guessing take off size wouldn't matter as much. Another issue I have is the dimroth design. I read about DAD300 using a ~1" keg spear for the CCST/dimroth/PC. Where is it good or poor design to reduce the diameter? Thanks.
