Kia Ora

Post by FLUB »

Greatings from New Zealand. I've just purchased an air still and have done my first run. It came as a kit that included turbo everything and I really enjoyed my first foray into a new hobby. As you will know, the taste leaves a bit to be desired but was not too bad after being filtered twice. Unfortunately I'm limited to an air still because I only have tank water supply that I can't afford to run for hours. The next drought would be interesting with no water but plenty of vodka ;-)

Anyway, I'm learning lots from this forum already, having read all the beginners stuff. The main thing that I've picked up is that my still is capable of good results as long as I start with a good wash and too avoid anything turbo. Also, my preference is whisky so this pot still is good for that. I'm looking forward to learning more as this hobby develops for me. I wish you good luck in getting home distilling legalised. Maybe one day governments will remember that they work for us and not the other way around.

Cheers, John
