CCVM build input

Post by Thebigbrewbowski »

Looking for some input on a simple ccvm setup. I have an 8gal milk can. I was thinking of going to 3" with a 36" column, but open to suggestions on 2" columns and what height of column most are running at 2". Also looking for energy and output comparison between 2" and 3". Currently I have a (I believe its 24") Liebig condenser.

Cant decide between the setups and if there is justification on running a 3" on 8 gal boiler vs a 2" ( Im not upgrading to a bigger boiler at this time)... I currently run my setup with a 1650w element, Im aware I will likely need to go up to 220v system for this, I also have a propane setup.

Ive poured through many threads but looking mostly for advice on either a 2" or 3" and how tall of column do you personally recommend (I know there is a ratio for different diameters, Im interested in what people actually have setup and associated purity). With only an 8 gallon boiler I'm not overly concerned with how fast the product comes out, Im more interested in a higher purity. TIA!
