Low alcohol in wash

Post by KayDog »

Hi gents, I need help please.
I have been distilling for years and this is the first time this has happened. My whole wash/wort has simply failed to yield alcohol at decent levels. the SG was spot on when I started off, the wort is nice and sour but the ABV is crap.

The question is, If I split up the wort, add more water and sugar and get the SG right, will the yeast kick off again? I can add more yeast as well.
I run a reflux still and generally get about 1.5L of decent alcohol at around 94% ABV out of 22L in the thumper. This time I got about 500ml at 50% ABV, really crap :x .
Thanks in anticipation chaps.

Regards from a rainy Cape Town in South Africa.
