spyder web mold on soured corn

I started a sour corn process three days ago as pinto has described elsewhwere. This morning I have a classic spyder web mold on top. I was going to mash with this in the morning for an all grain sour mash wash. Am I OK or do I need to dump it and start over?

Ive had that before ,ran it any way and did not notice a difference

Came back to say that it mite be different if it was growing in the mash instead of on the top

Same here. Had that last week as a matter of fact. Ran it as usual and it turned out normal.

I had the beginnings of the dreaded web(again!) last week, on a wash that had set overnight to cool and was ready for yeast. It was covered tightly, but not air locked. The mold/fungus had just, just started, so I tossed it all in the still boiler, and boiled it for an hour, then cooled it quickly(large cool filled with cold water and ice) then pitched yeast. Went perfect from there and i ran it this week.

My source for the spider web stuff is definitely the little gnats(fungus gnats, they look very much like fruit flies). I made traps, using plastic margarine tubs, a bit of wash in the bottom, and cling wrap rubber banded to the top, with 3-4 small holes. They find their way in, but the stupid critters can't find their way back out. I've trapped hundreds of them this way, and have almost completely eliminated them in 2-3 weeks. And in every trap, within a couple days, the same spider web-like fungus begins to grow....

I've had this mold even though my mash was airlocked, but over an extended period of time, a week or more.
