When Cooking my runs I have found that my copper cooling pot that the pipe runs through I fill with ICE for smaller runs and it usually works great lately I have noticed that I am getting a more watered down product and it appears that the copper bucket is putting a condensation on the outside of the drip spout and it is running into the product I put a piece of cloth around the drip spout up near the bucket that contains the ice and this seems to help stop the condensation... Has this happened to anyone else using ICE for a cooling agent when making a run... THANKS

Yes, ive done distillations/condensations at up to negative 60 degrees celcius before where condensation is a REAL problem (condensor = 1 inch thick layer of snow) and condensation can contaminate your product, the two obvious ways of stopping it are a) seal the flask to the condensor such that external condensation runs off the outside of the container or b) insulate the container so the external water vapour can't reach it - finding a good insulative high temp foam is good for this - the stuff that you use to cover air conditioning pipes is great..

Thank you for the information I just happen to have a great deal of pipe insulation due to getting my wells ready for winter as it does snow around here,, and I have two underground well systems for water and when they come into the main STORAGE TANK I have had problems last year... I will try this.. I had thought of putting an upward bend in the drip pipe so the water went back before the drip went into the containment flask...

Why not solder a small washer or something on the delivery pipe just short of the end. Condensation should drip off that instead of continuing to the end.
Cheers

Does'nt need to be a washer as such, just anything to create a drip point.
Cheers.
