yep
Re: Charred Oak
Being new to distilling and using 2lt glass bottles how do i soak the chips to get the flavor?
Can i just tip them in the bottle then strain the liquid off when i am ready?
Or put them in a bigger bottle with chips in a material bag soaking them in the liquid?.
Any help would be great.

Re: Charred Oak
Most just throw some in the bottle(wide mouth) strain later, most agree that using a small amount for a longer time is better than a large amount
a short time.
a short time.
Re: Charred Oak
along with quart or larger mason jars, flower bowl/vases also make decent wide mouth aging vessels. (just don't let your wife catch you)
I put mr coffee filters over the top/mouth with a rubber band. Its easy to over oak using cubes/sticks if you put too much in. Even after a week. You can usually fix most problems with oaking by adding back in a bit of whitedog, so always leave a little room in the top. You'll loose a little to the angels anyway.

Simple potstiller. Slow, single run.
(50 litre, propane heated pot still. Coil in bucket condenser - No thermometer, No carbon)

Cumudgeon and loving it.
