Aluminium... Is it dangerous to cook in?

Post by saltwatersniping »

I currently cook in an aluminium pressure cooker. I know it pits easily so I scrub it out after each use with a brillo pad.

When I scrub it, the water/soap turns a nasty dark (aluminium) color as if the aluminium is coming off during the cook.

Is there any way this is happening during the cook and tainting the spirits?

My current batch is sitting untouched and in helpless dispair to be drunk'n.

Thanks,
Saltwater
