Stainless oxide in still?

Hi all.
During lockdown 1.0 to find something to do I started planning a 2" ccvm. Using a 40lt hlt . this meant either putting a big hole in the middle of the lid or buying a stainless bowl. Then all the shops shut. To get out from under my other half feet I had the not so bright idea of using some off cuts of stainless used in a splash back. I've dished it, put a flange and a divute rim with upturned flange, using quite a bit of heat from oxy/act.
As I'm looking to finish up this bitcjh of a project. I realise the stainless was approx 0.8mm thick. So I'm trying to polish up without removing much metal. I'm not sure if I can remove all of the oxide from the heat used.
If I finish up the lid but not remove all of the oxide. Will it impart on product coming from the still?
