so. I used up some wash that was 70% corn meal 15% flaked rye, 15% 2 row (10 gallons worth) I fermented on the grain and after getting the wash off the grain I used a muslin bag to squeeze out the liquid (lots of yeast and trub about 2 gallons after I got rid of all large solids). I saved it. washed and collected 2/3 gallon of yeasties

- yeast i collected
that left me with about 1 1/3 gallons of dead yeast a nd alot of yeast (this is all red star). I had about 1.5 gallons of black strap left over from a previous saltbush bill all molasses rum (learned my lesson previously having too much molasses in a wash). I mixed them all up to get about 7 gallons in a fermenting pail. hoping I get an explosion.

That pail looks pretty full... you going to divide that before you put the lid on?

Maybe the experiment is "cleaning up."

ya thats why she is gonna sleep in that slop sink. although when I do my usual rum it only ever bubbles small bubbles at the surface just rapidly, like seltzer water. will take a pic tomorrow morning. hopefully the experiment is not cleaning up (I filled it so high to try and get the density down with more water).

add a blow off tube to the airlock to collect the overflow...

Are you keeping the ferment temperature in line with what the yeast requires ?
