I have been making beer from grain for about 30 years and have always wanted to try distilling.
I have a bunch of stainless kegs that I used for brewpots that I thought could be adapted to being a boiler but, alas, the lids are all cut off.
It seems easier to but a chinese pot with a clamp lid and modify it from there. Looking forward to all of your expert opinions on parts/ techniques etc.
Eventually would love a full copper unit but waiting for the spare $1000 or so. Hopefully I can learn a lot on the foreign one before moving up.
I just picked up a VEVOR 10 gal and it seems fine for a beginner. I will modify it before I run anything though to increase it's capability by adding a stack.
It's getting warmer here in the Northeast US so looking forward to some warm spring days on the deck with my new boiler.
Welcome, we have several members that cut part of the top of the keg for cleaning the boiler can you start a new thread a add pictures of your kegs with the removed tops and maybe some of our members can give you a suggestion on how to convert one to add a column.
