botanicals
instead of putting these into a thumper or gin head could these botanicals possibly just be aged in some of the neutral spirit for a little while?
The only reason i can see for putting the ingredients into a gin head is for times sake because your distilate comes out with flavor instead of waiting for flavors to infuse....is my thinking off?

Sure you can. Bunch of threads on here about making gin like that. It's a recognized gin production method.

Suspended botanicals add only flavor. A maceration will also contribute color. You will need to re-distill after the soak to get clear spirits.

try making a "tea bag" and suspending it in the vapor path.

many of the botanicals used in gin would have a very bitter or harsh flavor if just maseration was used, distilling smoothes and mellows these flavors, since the harsher heavy oils remain behind.

but ya, if you were looking to gain some light flavors my adding herbs or something to vodka, as long as you don't add too much I'm sure it'd be fine.
