Alcoholic essence from green oranges (non-mature)

Post by Demy »

My experiment. I adore citrus fruits. I gave a couple of green oranges as a gift, generally the green peel has a somewhat different aroma than the whole fruit and I wanted to preserve that aroma so I thought of an alcoholic dye. I started peeling with knife the hard peel

I want a very concentrated product, an essence. I remember that the essential oil of some citrus fruits is extracted "scratching" the peel and centrifuge, the grated peel also occupies little space so I used an old tool to try.

I used alcohol at 94 ABV, I think it goes well to extract oils from citrus fruits (every botanical should require different ABV).I hope to get something useful
