Got this recipe from a cookbook back in 1974 when I was commercial fishing.
Ingredients
2 pounds of halibut
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons butter
1 (4oz) can mushrooms drained
1 cup sour cream
1/4th cup sherry wine
Paprika

Directions
Preheat oven to 425 F.
Place halibut in buttered shallow baking dish
Bake 10 minutes
Meanwhile melt butter in sauce pan and sauté mushrooms until golden brown
Remove from heat and add sour cream and wine
Pour sauce over fish and sprinkle with paprika
Return to oven at 325 F for an additional 10 minutes
Serves 4-6

 That sounds good. Halibut is my favorite (white) fish if I can't count sturgeon. My wife likes it marinated and baked in Italian dressing. Leftovers if there are any, get turned into halibut sandwiches, mixed with mayo and relish like canned tuna.

I have some halibut in the freezer. Gives me a new reason to break out a few filets and try this out.

It is a great recipe, this time I used the best part of the halibut, the cheeks.
