Any Texans around the board today? I just read about an explosion at one of your vodka distilleries near Austin.
It was these guys.

If only the best birds sang, the woods would be silent.

Welder huh? Burnt his hands/face, man that would suck. Strike an arc and whoosh the place goes up. I weld and I make shine...but never around each other! LOL!
Hope he's alright, just glad it wasn't a personal still I think the story would of been quite a bit longer.

Numerous 57L kegs, some propane, one 220v electric with stilldragon controller. Keggle for all-Grain, two pot still tops for whisky, a 3" reflux with deflag for vodka. Coming up, a 4" perf plate column. Life is short, make whisky and drag race!

Re: Distillery explosion
The first still I built developed a leak on about the 3rd run. Thought I had it flushed and dried propperly. When I put the torch to it, there was a very loud bang and shot a blue flame about 6 feet across the shop.

It is the very things that we think we know, that keep us from learning what we should know.
Valved Reflux, 3"x54" Bok 'mini', 2 liebig based pots and the 'Blockhead' 60K btu propane heat

Re: Distillery explosion
those fellas are just down the road...
heard about this today at work. I saw this post sunday night, didn't read it till now...
Thats terrible. Those guys make a great vodka. The country around 'drippin'...the local name... is beautiful. LImestone, crystal clear springs and creeks, caves and grottos... Too damn many people moving there and ruining all that, but its still a nice place. I hope that fella that got burned is ok.
Drippin and that whole area from Blanco to Wimberley is like paradise if you can appreciate a good swimming hole. Jacobs well, blue hole.. Blanco river... a thousand unnamed springs... water so clear you can see to the bottom of a 40 foot deep spring like there was no water at all...
uh, but if you are thinking of moving here, piss off... its a shithole....
