I've lurked around this hobby and forum for awhile, tried to read things that both interest me and do not. Used to prefer drinking islay whiskies, now enjoy fruit brandies / eau-de-vies / rakijas. These can be hard to come by, however!
Discovered that one of the more interesting conections between these libations is that the stills used mostly seem to use a rummager / mixer / agitator, to extract as much of the flavor profile as possible on a stripping run, and then refining (or not!) with a spirit run, something that i am interested in replicating with local fruit, and hopefully someday fruit from my own trees. Will be posting to the stills section for advice, but it looks like most that i can find come out of the Balkans and are not popular in the US. I do not currently own a still and prefer to buy once cry once, if i dont diy.
