Gin Botanicals

I found this article about gin botanicals interesting, thought I'd share.

https://spiritsbeacon.com/guides/spirit ... botanicals

There's certainly some superfluous info (unless you didn't already know that "Oranges are a round, fleshy fruit encased by a bright orange peel.") but also lots of good info on how certain ingredients are used, their impact on flavor, and some samples of gins that feature them.

I'm just glad that gin can be made quickly (if you already have neutral on hand) and in small batches because I can see a lot of experimenting in my future!

I just started in on gin, and also found that article and was contemplating posting it. Good rundown on a good number of botanicals. Been trying one new ingredient at a time to try and get a sense of them. Hopefully have time to run an Oeg with pink peppercorns this weekend.

Just got some angelica root in the mail and some grains of paradise on the way for a stab at genever.

Cheers!

Good read. I can echo the comments on Cassia Bark. It must be used very sparingly.
