How can I use agave leaves for making mezcal?

Hi, I'm beginner of making mezcal, actually it's my first time.
I live in Korea, which has not good climate for growing agave, so I can only get small agave for making mezcal.
Also, because i'm such a poor sophomore, I cannot buy lots of agave to get pina.
So, what I have thought is
"Let's make mezcal with whole agave, instead of using only pina."
I bought Agave Potatorum, which has pretty thick leaves, and I think it might contain some sources to make mezcal.
But what I'm worry about is traditionally we don't use leaves when making mezcal, because leaves make mezcal bitterness.
So how can I use agave leaves for making mezcal by reducing those bitterness?
