I have already purchased the Big Blue HDPE to use as a fermenter and a smaller sibling to collect low wines, but just read that one mustn't store alcohol in plastic.
I'm still very new so forgive my lack of knowledge please.
So is it safe to collect and store low wines in these?

Short answer: Nope!
Long answer: Food-safe plastics are tested at around 10% abv (from memory) for a period of about 2 weeks (also from memory... I've talked about this before on the forum, you'll find the details here somewhere). At some point some of the chemicals are going to start leeching into your booze. A normal ferment fits into the tested use cases, but low wines storage definitely doesn't.

As I stated in your other thread. No low wines in plastic.

Store your low wines in a keg. I store my lows and my feints in 5 gallon Cornelious kegs, as well as projects that are destined for barrel aging.
