Hello Forum,
I thought to share with you my attempt at recovering EtOH from wine making leftover trash ... the pomace and dregs. The attached slides show my experience in making washes from these.
It is important to note that the temperatures shown are a little lower than expected as the washes were made at 6500 feet above sea level.
Would very much like to see similar analyses or documentation for other mashes, musts or similar. All feedback is welcome.

Suggest running the pomace (with some water added) through a strip run (four times or so) and collecting the low wines from each strip run down to average collected ABV in the 25-30%abv range then doing a spirit run and collecting in fractions.
Love me some Grappa!
Cheers,
jonny

Re: Finding EtOH in Wine Making Trash
Good stuff .
Nice data . Clearly shows the rise in boiler temp and decline in abv as run progresses .Doesn’t really mean much , but its a good thing to see as you are learning .
I see the Run took less than 2 hrs from boiling to finished .
With that amount in your boiler , you might be better to turn the power down to a third of that so it takes about 6 hrs to run . That will improve the separation when you do the spirit run .
But as Johnny said , if uou can do 3 or 4 stripping runs ( just like you have ) and then do the slow spirit run , you’ll be gold
