Dark rum as in Kraken black rum

Howdy, all. Looking at making a dark rum. I really like the Kraken black rum. This will be my first try at a rum. I have no dundra to use. I can get plenty of feed store liquid molasses. Being the first time what recipe should I use? Also, how do they get to be so dark? I will be using a 12gal copper pot still with a thumper and a flake worm. As I said this is all new to me.
