New Zealand Based Head Brewer trying out distilling

Post by witnessthis »

Hi people,

I am new to distilling but not alcohol,
I am the head brewer for b.effect Brewing Co, based in Wanaka. I come from a background in food science, microbiology and analytical chemistry, so it is only natural for my curiosity to lead me to home distilling, and the still-it channel and podcast has lead me here.
Spirits wise, I am interested in whisky and gin primarily, but all facets of this hobby have garnered my interest.

hopefully I can contribute my brewing knowledge to others, while learning from those before me.

Cheers,

Welcome along, it's a great hobby to get into, especially as you have access to plenty of shiny gear already and NZ grain.

Welcome, must be nice to be from a country where distilling is legal so you can give so much information. Enjoy the journey!

Welcome to HD, with your background I'm sure distilling will not be much of an issue. AND you don't have to do it outlaw style like the rest of the world.
Cheers

Welcome aboard Witness, all of your training and skills so far will help some......but some of them might also be a bit of a hindrance.
Most brewers arrive here as clean freaks ...they bring a bottle of sanitizer with them.
