anyone ever use rice krispies in there mash??? if so how did it turn out??? the reason i asked is because i heard of people making good whiskey from it and i was just making sure.

this does not mean that you cannot make something interesting and drinkable out of breakfast cereal.

in order to arrive at "good whiskey" nothing as clean as rice crispies or even plain white rice is going to cut it.
Whiskey gets it's complexity (to start) from whole grain and all of the weird little non fermentables in it.
You could probably make a real rice whiskey from unhulled wild rice or black thai rice... but using just the starch from the rice would be like trying to make corn whiskey from cornstarch.

Never tried a rice whiskey it may be quite nice. whiskey is just a grain spirit with some retained flavors not cleaned up as much as vodka. people get quite personal about what will work for whiskey cause every area thinks they are the only ones who ever invented or made whiskey. the truth is it is made several differant ways by several differant cultures all across the world so ignore the narrow view and try whatever suits your fancy. I would find a cheaper source of rice though if you decide to experiment. rice in luisianna is about 2.50 per 50 lb rice krispies what 1-2 hundred for 50 lb? very rough ballpark figure 50lb grain= 1 gallon ethanol
