Kind of an update on a rum wash.

I did a rum wash over 2 months ago using 100% blackstrap molasses I got from a farm & feed store and water. I used 4.5 gallons in 10 of water It never really seemed to ferment just the first day really well and after about 4 days nothing I just checked it and it read 1.035 it started at 1.058 don't think this is low enough but it's been staying there for a month now under a sealed bubbler fermenter. Going to run it anyway and see what goes.Thoughts on this? Thanks.

How's it taste? I don't think it's done, but I think I've read somewhere here that rum washes don't really tend to read accurately when finished.

It's not uncommon for rum to finish in less than three days. Run it in the hope it isn't mostly vinegar.

Your proportions seem pretty close to what I use . Maybe just a tad too much Molasses but not that much that I’d consider it a worry.
Your finish gravity sounds about right , but your start gravity sounds way off . I’d have expected it to be up around 1.100 to 1.110 for a first batch without Dunder.
A 4 day fermentation sounds about right.
But it shouldn’t taste sweet still if it's finished .I think that the brain can be tricked though as we taste molasses and relate it to sweetness . I’d double check what you think you’re tasting .
Bottom line . Sounds like it’s as done as it’s going to be.Not much you can do to get it started again after a month if it isn’t . Run it .
