He just cheked in and seems to be in reasonably good health.
He was definitely affected by covid and also must now use a voice activated app in order to type due to failing vision.
Anywho,,,,, for those who care, it's good that he is otherwise doing well.

Good to hear, Larry. Early on Bob shared with me the process and logic involved in producing his triple-distilled single malt whiskey. I've always respected his approach to the craft and the work he put into his distillery.
Thanks for the update.

Thanks for that Larry, I wasn't aware that he has had health issues.
He's always done good things for this hobby and is someone who's information and ideas I've always trusted.
Great to hear that he is doing OK

Thanks for the update Larry.
Zbob is a gent, I remember reaching out to him to get his book, he tried to talk me out of it saying it's mainly for beginners, I still got it and I still learnt loads.
Didn't know he was of ill health, hope he's on the mend

Within the last few years he was (as he puts it) helping out at a friend's distillery. His health forced him to step aside and slow down.
He is now however in the process of writing another book that will be a bit more about the practicalities of what is needed to run a craft distillery. I look forward to its completion. I like his writing style.

He's to modest.
From our convictions he was running the distillery while the people who called the shots were unable to find their arseholes even with a mirror on a stick
Apparently he churned out some very good peated malt for them

Excellent style.
Easily read ,to the point , easy to understand, no bullshit, the way all things should be written.
Put me on the list for the new book.

I thought he owned the distillery on Whidbey Island. It is right on the water and he told me if I brought the boat down he would clean off the dock and I could moor there. Unfortunately I never made it down but when the ADI conference was in Seattle I took him and Carl around the day before it started to different distilleries in the Seattle and Woodinville areas.

Best health to ZB! If he releases another book I'll order it and I'm not much of a book guy these days...
Cheers,
jonny

He is evidently only good friends with the Colders Bay folks.
He says they have even been able to make some improvements upon what he set them up to produce.
Not suprising. He is a good teacher.

After LWTC's original post I was going over some of Bob's old emails and came across this.

It's crazy how this stuff works out, I ordered his book last week Making Fine Spirits. Its like when you are looking at parts on the internet and next thing you know its showing up everywhere.
I was talking to someone about needing more reading material and they told me to check it out.
I knew the name sounded familiar from when I first started reading the forums. Or he was at least referenced in some posts.
Its good to know from the way it sounds from all of you guys it should be a very good read and I'm really looking forward to it.
It will be nice to have something read when I'm not able to get online and check out whats happening here.

If its coming from ZBob, it will be accurate, relevant and current. Most books I've looked at were a little short on all three attributes.
One only has to read through the archives here to get the required information, although the search functions can be a little challenging.
Enjoy your read.
