Hello I’d like to come by and say hello I’m new to the site and distilling for the most part I have ran maybe 8 five gallon buckets thru a 3 gallon pot and also did 2 runs with a guy a few miles up the road about 9-10 years ago on a ----gallon so not too much experience but to just get an idea of the craft and the basic knowledge he never taught me anything about the mashing or fermenting so like I said it was just really cause I was hanging out and he had so corn mash that he hadn’t ran cause his back had went out and couldn’t get the mash into the boiler without my help so he let me do a run with him then let me control the fire and run it the second time and showed/corrected me if I did anything wrong while I was running it but that’s about all my hands on experience I have but I do want to learn a lot more and I’ve always enjoyed drinking socially so why not learn how to do something that my great grandpa and more of my family used to do. I’m from the foothills of North Carolina, worked in a tire/mechanic shop for 12 years. My wife of ten years and I have two kids, a five year old boy and a two year old girl, and I love my family more than anything so that’s the story about me glad I’m her and it’s gonna be good to know everyone here and learn a thing or two that I can put to use to advance my knowledge and skills into the craft of fermentation and distilling
