Hey Folks I'm redesigning my still from having a Liebeg Condenser to a thumper and was wondering what is a safe distance to have your condenser from the Turkey fryer flame? Thanks in advance,

You can use a long liebig with a thumper and get it far away.

Say 3 to 4 feet at least, talking bare minimum . 5 or 6 sounds a lil better. build a heat shroud for your burner too. It has several benefits

Thats my feelings on it too .6’…. Especially with a high pressure regulator or Turkey frier where there is a big fire .
If you have a smaller gas burner or stove top gas burner , 4’ might be acceptable . In any case , flames close to collection is an accident waiting to happen .

I also wet down the concrete area around the burner and place the collection vessel in a large pot or tray if possible so if there is a spill it gets contained .

Also like Jonny said , adding a thumper helps with distance .

Solid recommendations on safety in the shed.

Flammable liquids & vapors love to hook up with just a spark, let alone an open flame.

As a side note on distance, my local propane delivery company would not set up a tank at my backyard outdoor kitchen because they couldn’t find a spot that was at least 50’ away from the nearest electrical outlet. So I’m stuck with using the portable tanks.
