Pecan wood charcoal
I did a search and found 0 results so, let's talk about pecan wood. I've lightly charred pecan wood and put in a jar with favorable results. I wonder what a mellowing/flavoring over pecan charcoal would do. Has anyone tried it? Think I'm going to try a bit of my next run and see how it works. I know I know, if you run right you don't need to mellow. No, I don't need it but, would like to try it and taste the results and was looking for some input. So, what are your thoughts?

Charcoal mellowing is different than activated carbon filtering. I haven't done either yet but have been thinking about introducing some LCP into a series of whiskey runs toojdthedj10 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 27, 2023 8:43 am I did a search and found 0 results so, let's talk about pecan wood. Cheers and good luck - let us know how it goes!

Correct, yeh I don't want to remove any flavor with carbon just maybe adding some flavor or different notes besides oak. Thanks, I will post back what I find.

Otis has done several studies on flavoring (aging) with different woods. Here’s a link to one of his threads WRT “nut woods” —> viewtopic.php?p=7757190#p7757190
