Changed how I do my run and having a harder time finding heads cut

I started playing around with my runs and started adding some low wines or high tails, whichever I had handy in my thumper. It helps the whole run hold proof insanely good, Im making tails cuts about 60%ABV. But since the proof is holding so much higher Im having trouble finding the difference in the "burn" from the heads Ive always been able to cut easily to a much higher proof hearts cut which now burns as well due to the ABV being higher and holding. Ive aired out. Ive diluted down to about 40% and is still difficult to find out just where I am. Ive also noticed now when I dilute to 40% or below my product is just plain. Like water. Any pointers would be welcome.
