I just ordered 90 lbs of animal feed barley (is it raw or malted?) from Azure Standard. I also ordered 25 lbs of flaked rye. 115 lbs shipped from Oregon to AL for only $6 shipping.
I haven't done any thing with rye in it since the 80s. Iusually just do corn barley and maybe a little oats. Does this sound like too much rye?
I don't want to get stuck with a super thick slimy goop that can't be squeezed. I let a friend "borrow" my thumper keg and he moved without returning it. So no I have no way to steam strip the grain slops. Seems like back then we never put more than about 10% rye in a mash but I can't remember.
Any advise?

Question about Rye
If it's got hide or hair, I can ride it.
Wheels or tracks, I can drive it.
Rotor or fixed wings, I can fly it.
And if it's grain or fruit, i can make a drop outta it!
